School Day's

Bridger had his first day of school August 23rd. When I picked him up and asked how school went he said “Not so well”. It has been a tuff start with learning the basics of school to the academic rigor of first grade. He defiantly missed a lot last year. We are confident that he will catch on and grow a tone this year. We hope he has fun and learns to love school. In the last six weeks we have seen major improvements in his willingness to learn. The days are still long and he is utterly exhausted by the time he gets home. A couple of weeks ago if he sat for any length of time he would fall asleep. I thought I would be very sad when he went to school but I am so happy. For the first time he is doing something normal and our lives have a schedule. I am just happy for him and have only cried twice. I try to stay as busy as possible. I plan to work really hard on the Bridge Together foundation.

After the first week of school on September 2nd we got to call Bridger’s donor. It was his one year mark post transplant and we could release information to each other. We were both very anxious to find out about each other and talk on the phone. Her name is Kim and she lives up in Wisconsin. She and her husband have two kids a boy 13 and a girl who is 7. Kim is such a wonder full person we are so blessed to have her in our lives. It was a very special to get to talk with her. Kim gave us such a priceless gift that million’s of thanks will never be enough. It has been nice to get to call and e-mail but we can’t wait to meet in person. We talked to her just last night and when we hung up Bridger said “I want to go see her” I know the felling is mutual. Hopefully something will work out soon.
This is Kim and her family!

That Saturday to continue the Celebration of reaching his one year mark we had a get together with some family and friends. It was great we have had such wonderful support. Bridger had a blast with everyone coming over.

That next Monday labor day I ran my fourth triathlon of the year. I had hurt my leg a couple of weeks earlier so I wasn’t sure how I would fair. I felt like I did pretty well and when I red the results I figured I took 3rd so I wanted to wait for the result then I could get a plaque or something. I figured I worked hard this summer it would be nice to have something. So we waited and when the 3rd place name was read and it wasn’t mine I was very disappointed but thought well maybe 2nd. But nope, someone else name was read so we got up to leave. Then they read my name for first place in my age group. I was very surprised, and happy. Blake said well we have learned that you don’t know how to read a chart. But I guess I can work on that after I go running.

They gave medals insted of plaques. This is my oh so awsome bike. (I was probibly the only one in my group of riders that had stright handle bars.) I know I'm so cool:)

Last night was another Milestone for Bridger he lost his first Tooth! It has been loose for a couple of weeks and his new one was already growing in so I pulled it out last night he was very brave of course and just said “that hurts”. But it was already done and out by that point. He is so proud of his tooth he doesn’t want the tooth fairy to come quite yet he wants to look at it for a couple of days. He thinks it is very interesting. Blake and I wore laugh about how you remember the first couple of teeth you loose but what happens after that?

.

Blake's Mom the tradition of making Tooth pillows for the kids to put their teeth in when they loos them Bridger helped make it. It turned out very cute, and was just in time.
