Day 6

I the gift basket from His Grace Foundation there was a lint roller. At first I jus thought “this is thoughtful” but now I know what it is for, Bridger’s hair! It is falling out in large amounts. Any time he leans on anything a ton of little hairs are left behind. His hair is visibly thinner but there is still a lot to come out. I stepped in to the bathroom and when I came out Bridge had made a pile of hair on his bedspread and said “look what happens. What a mess” he is handling it ok. Late last night Bridger pealed away his central line bandage and scratched his skin until he bleed. It is now at risk for infection. The Dr’s said they will have the bandage changed everyday, and they are using a special ointment on the scratches. Today after our nap Bridger woke up with a really bad tummy ache. He was so sad and angry he said “you shouldn’t have let me have nap and this wouldn’t have happened” I caught me way off guard. They gave him some medicine and that made him drowsy for the rest of the day. But not drowsy enough because his blood pressure was way too hi but after a couple of hours it came down with out meds. I noticed he drank a lot to day and was holding his jaw funny. I asked him if his throat hurt but he just said no. Later he said it felt like something was stuck in his throat. So I fear we have the start of Mucositis. The Dr said it was good he still had some taste buds left he probably wont get the mouth sores until he looses all his taste buds. Bridger has found a second favorite drink next to milk. He is taking after my oldest sister and loves Country Time Lemonade. He wasn’t very active today maybe tomorrow will be better.

  1. Cameron hates haircuts and hair washing, too, Bridger! So does Miles. It must be a boy thing...:)
And Country Time Lemonade is AWESOME. Probably the only lemonade I like even in a can!
We're praying and think of you all the time. We love you guys!

  2. My dear dear Janalee, Blake and Bridger:
I had not heard about all of your challenges since leaving Idaho Falls. It was with many tears that I read your blog. Your strength at being able to be upbeat and loving with Bridger is a testament to a parents unconditional love for their child. I hope you don't mind if I continue to watch for updates. Please considered yourselves hugged from us. We have continued to think about you often, even prior to hearing about Bridger. You guys are awesome and we miss you! Please know that you will now be in our prayers. It's hard to believe Bridger is so big! He was just a baby; and an adorable one at that :) We send you our love and prayers for great blood counts. Tammi and Frankie Hopkins

I told Em yesterday that I don't know what to do for you and hope you will take me up on it when you need something. You are in my thoughts and prayers multiple times each day. I hope today is filled with smiles and no pain or infection. Take care~

  4. JanaLee, we've never met, but my husband and I just moved into the Carrollton 1st ward where we heard about your beautiful little boy. We moved from CT where a little boy in our ward also went through a bmt. The family has a caring bridge page where they've chronicled the ups and downs of this tough process. His mom's email address is:belatony76@hotmail.com if you'd like to contact her, I know she would love to help in any way you need. We're praying for you and Bridger.
